I’ve been branching out a lot lately. More so in my beer selection. I guess it all started a few weeks ago when I met Sean for a mid-afternoon beer.

We went to Right Brain Brewery, which is located in Traverse City. Just a few blocks from my house so I walked down there to meet him. We had a beer and they were tapping the first keg of the Big Ass IPA. I’m not really a huge IPA fan, but I do love beer so I gladly accepted when offered a sample. And that’s where it started. HELLO IPA! Big Ass IPA is a crisp 9.3% that tastes just so refreshing. Great name that is just fun to say!
After the Big Ass IPA (still fun to say), at a later date mind you, I know what you’re thinking, I tried Bell’s Brewery’s Hopslam.

I tried Hopslam at Bubba’s in Traverse City. They had this 10% beer on draft, which to me usually tastes better than the bottled version. But on the upside the Hopslam is in fact bottled, which means you can get it all over, unlike RBB. I would really like to get these two high gravity IPAs together to do a little testing. Either way they are delish. So check them out and let me know what you think!
