Whole Wheat French Bread

I had some Panera Bread Brocoli Cheese Soup in the freezer that had been purchased at Sam’s Club. So with that I wanted to serve some fresh, homemade bread. I found this Whole Wheat French Bread recipe on Spark Recipes and did make a few changes to it.

Ingredients
2 1/2 C warm water
3 Tbs sugar
2 Tbs yeast
6 Cups flour (I did 3.5 cups White, 2.5 cups wheat flour just because I ran out of wheat flour)
1 Tbs salt
4 Tbs olive oil (vege oil works too)
1/4 Cup Eggbeaters
Directions
In large bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir in yeast and let sit for 5 min. Add salt, oil, and 3 C. flour. Beat well. Add remaining flour, stir well. Knead and mix together. Stir down with spoon and allow to rest 10 minutes again, repeating process 3 times

Turn dough onto floured counter or board and knead 2-3 times to coat with flour. Divide dough into 2 pieces.

Make two long loaflike pieces. Slash top of bread and brush with eggbeaters. Allow to rise at least 30 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until slightly browned. I floured my pizza stone & used that. It stuck a little bit, so I had to use a spatula to get it off. This makes two huge loaves, and number of servings depends on how thick you slice it. I made it on Saturday night, and had some for breakfast toasted & it was amazingly fresh!

Yes, that is my spatula on the floor. Things got a little crazy!

**UPDATE**
Today is Thursday! Right. Why am I sooo excited? Because the bread is still so fresh! This recipe rocks! So good!

Italian Green Beans!

I guess I have become a little domesticated in all of my free time. I recently made some Italian Green Beans with some green beans that I got at theĀ Oakland County Farmers Market when I was down visiting my mom. They had a great selection and cheap prices.
First I put some freshly minced garlic in some olive oil and heated it up in the microwave. I’m sorry I don’t have measurements. I usually just wing it. Maybe four or five cloves with 2 or 3 tbsps of evoo (extra virgin olive oil.)
Here’s the green beans washed and some cut up summer squash and zucchini thrown in too just because I had it.

Then I came with the can of Italian seasoned tomatoes. With the water/sauce and all.

Next was a little freshly, chopped basil from my window sill, why? Oh because I can!

Then I put it in the oven while I was cooking my pizza at about 350 til I felt the beans were ready.
The finished product:

It was yum-tastic.
