One of my best friends turned 30 on the 25th of August. And for Marty’s birthday, he wanted to have a bar crawl. As, I am in Monterey and not Michigan, I, unfortunately will not be able to attend. So, I suggested to Marty’s wife, Sarah, that I design a t-shirt for the bar crawl. She didn’t end up getting them printed, but I thought the designs that I came up with were pretty damn sweet.

I liked the design so much, that I started to play with it a little in Photoshop. Here’s an image that I came up with that could be used as an invite or something fun like that.

So a lot of designers have taken to designing some song lyrics or a movie quote. I thought I’d take a stab. Just music I like. Or a particular lyric that I’m fond of. I’m not going to say anything like I’ll do one each day, but maybe every now and then.

“Bartender” -Dave Matthews Band

“Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby” – Counting Crows

“Dreaming” – Blondie

Not really sure what I am doing with these designs, but I am trying some new stuff. I haven’t had much time lately to just sit and design. So this is just all for fun.

This one is just playing with a geometric shape and some different typography.

This abstract image I had created before. This time I just added some type to it.

Just a ribbon. Well, you know, because I am #1.

Here’s another little tidbit of work that I have done recently. Wedding invites! I did this set for my great friends, Mandi & Kevin. They were married on June 12, 2010, sorry wedding crashers!

Hey friends, I know I haven’t posted that much lately. Or in a month or two. It’s been busy. You know, weddings, garage sale, packing up a house, moving across the country. And then on top of all of that, still not knowing where you will end up!
But I did want to post some current work. Here’s a logo that I did for the guys at LureSecure

Hope you enjoy it. More work soon.

I found this Vintage Poster Tutorial on GoMedia for a vintage poster. Specifically I enjoyed the type.

I’m not really into gorilla art, so here is what I did for my version. For those of you wondering, this was complete in Photoshop. I used turquoise because apparently, it is this year’s it color. And well, Bekes, because it is a nickname.

Everyone’s see the new Michigan State Logo that has been proposed. And if not here it is:

Apparently MSU has worked with a team of Nike’s designers on this logo for 2 years. And apparently it doesn’t look like they did any test groups on the logo because there has been an uproar of hatred against the new logo. I looked at the old and the new and came up with a different design. So this is my version of what should be the new MSU logo.

It’s not too much of a leap, but it incorporates some of the new and the old. And really I think just looking at the old and the new that it was right there staring the designers in the face. But these are just my thoughts as a MSU Alum & lifelong fan.
Let me know what you guys think of my design.
